Low season
We were going to Ko Lanta and I wanted to see the area, so we picked a place for the night from agoda. It was the low season, so prices were amazingly good, especially compared to US and European standards.The hotel was central to the small bars, stores and whatnot and there were still enough people around to make a little bar hopping enjoyable.
I had no complaints about the hotel itself. The sewer system was frail, but that says more about the entire region than the hotel. The room was really nice (again considering the price, amazing) and am hard pressed to find a complaint. It was a typical city establishment, so it was wedged amongst everything else. The back of the place had foliage and trees, which is nicer than alleys or stores, but you still didn't think you were in the national park or "resort".
Overall, a really nice place with great staff that offered way more for the money than most western travellers would expect. Even during high season, I doubt I'd find much to comp
