Almost Paradise

This was our first stay at Islanda and we based our expectations on their website. The resort mostly lived up to its advertising with some exceptions.
Pluses: undoubtedly the best pool view on the island...we could have just stared for hours and did.
Staff was very friendly and polite even with some language barriers. They often went out of their way to send us to different sites and sounds on the island.
Our room, which was on the back side (garden view) was very clean with great a/c
Location: very well located near the junction of two streets that lead everywhere on the island. You are about 10 to 15 minutes walk to several bars and resorts.
Quiet: extremely quiet even for a quiet island almost to the point of needing some noise.
Negatives: swim up bar doesn't exist period
Some of the pool feature (dragon fountains) haven't apparently worked for a long time
The owners/staff were really strict about keeping the place clean and controlled with lots of notes and rules..

Best on Ko Mak
