Cute budget resort near a beautiful beach
The Krabi Sands is a very nice, budget resort located across the street from Klong Muang Beach, an area full of upscale hotels and resorts. The hotel itself is more than adequate, with comfortable rooms and good A/C. I might be a bit biased because we stayed at several luxury hotels, but I found the rooms and amenities quite basic for the price.
First the good points: location is on Klong Muang beach, one of the most beautiful places in the world. The resort's restaurant is located across the street from the resort itself, on the beach, and offers a fantastic sunset view. The owner is very nice and speaks good English.
The not-so-good: Given the price point for Thailand, I was expecting a slightly nicer place. The cabins are a little run down, there was no shower curtain in the bathroom, and the shower amenities were plastic packets of shampoo and cheap soap. The pool was of a decent size, but there were lots of rocks on the bottom. The breakfast buffet left something to be desired in comparison to other places we stayed around the region.
We paid for two nights, but ended up moving to the Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra on the second night.
