Excellent stay-put resort
This is our second annual week-long stay at Maehaad. We would happily return next year. The room quality is 4-star; very comfortable. We stay in the "ordinary" rooms, and find them excellent. Not inexpensive, but fully worth it. Enjoy the balcony a lot. Lots of international channel TV. Breakfasts were excellent; a pleasure. Staff were all attentive and pleasant. We are older, read a lot, swim a lot in the wonderful long pool. No need to go off-campus to find entertainment. The next-door "backpacker" resort has excellent food in their restaurant on the beach, with good swimming in the ocean. A mini-market across the street from the hotel's office has snacks and Internet.
There were lots of family groups (the hotel was pretty much full; July 2014). Pool is so big that we never felt invaded by the children. We were present during the "full moon" thing, but the younger people never forced that issue on us: we noticed no extra noise or commotion. Live and let live really can happen.
