Nice location, but in need of an upgrade . . .
The resort itself was easy enough to find, and it seemed good as we went through check in. The staff was friendly and helpful in getting us to our room. Our room itself was fairly nicely appointed and cozy. It was beginning to show its age, but everything was in working order--just getting a bit old.
We bought some local food and ate it poolside--which was a bit perilous. The wood around the pool was in a very dangerous state, and had been poorly and improperly repaired. The pool itself seem adequate, although small. Luckily, we survived without incident.
We ordered room service, which came promptly even though we ordered a bit late. The food was definitely for a tourist taste (I have lived here for about three years, and my partner is Thai)--not Thai seasoned at all, but mild and a bit bland. We skipped breakfast and left straight away, as the Chiang Dao Caves are near the resort. And highly recommended!
Marisa was a decent place for a quick visit, but I feel there are other, better options in the area.
