Above average hotel with many areas to be improved


My husband and i checked into this hotel on my birthday in June. The problem started on the very first day where my husband have emailed the hotel and requested for a birthday set up in the room prior to check in. This was meant to be a surprise for me. However, nothing was done to the room. My husband have checked with the reception and was told it will be set up in the evening. Again when we came back late that night, nothing was done. Disappointed, my husband called on the reception again and told them to forget about it. That was then a small little cake was sent up to the room which by then my birthday was almost over.
One thing at least the management tried to make amends by apologising and offered us to a complimentary dinner at the hotel restaurants which we appreciated.
However, aside from that there were also several unpleasant experiences during our stay- 1. No cold water in bathroom late at night. Technician have to enter the room to try fix the problem which was not resolved. We were offered a change of room late into the night as we have not showered since we were waiting for it to be fixed.
2. Rudeness of the housekeeping. We were taken aback when the housekeeping barged into our room after just pressing the bell once and opened the door straight after, leaving us no time to react. Separately, when we requested for more toiletries to be sent to our room through the conceirge, the housekeeping took a while and when she was finally there, she impatiently pressed the doorbell quickly and many times also knocking frantically on our room door possibly to show her displeasure.
3. Breakfast was not great at all. Given that the hotel is under the Hilton chain of hotels, we expected at least a good spread of breakfast items. In contrary, there were very limited choices and only basic varieties when we were there. Food quality was not great and also not topped up on a frequent basis, leaving the food tray empty most of the time. When my husband was havin

Very nice hotel
