The hotel staff were genuinely friendly. So many hotel staff in Thailand nowadays seem quite jaded and they can be a bit offhand. For what you get, the hotel is quite expensive, but so is everything on overrated, overdeveloped Samui. I drove to Samui from my house in southern Thailand so had a car at my disposal. If you don't have a car and want to get to Chaweng a taxi will be about Bt400 each way. The hotel also offers a shuttle service for Bt100 per person each way. If staying here you should consider hiring a car or motorbike, but bear in mind that Samui's roads are very dangerous. Breakfast is very ordinary. It will put something inside your stomach but, as my wife said, there is nothing at breakfast to get excited about. The bathrooms have bathtubs with a shower inside, but climbing into the bathtub may be difficult for elderly guests. To get to the nearest beach I was told that you turn right outside the hotel and walk 300m. I didn't try, but drove to Lamai beach instead.
