Much buck no bang, luxurious with bad restaurant

We choosed to stay at Layana resort and spa after a tip from a fellow traveller. We went there and was greeted by a girl in the reception, she showed us around and we immediatly wanted to stay there after the 5star treatment the reception showed us all across our stay.
Layana's strenght is the people in the reception for sure, they are 5star world class staff. Very attentive, knowdledgeable, very friendly and professional. To bad everyone in this resort does not go the extra mile..
The garden pavillion room: Really classy and nice rooms. Big westernized soft beds with a wide selection of pillows. Sofa area was really nice and comfy. The bathtub was lowered into the floor giving you a nice experience :) Cleaning and everything was topnotch except from some small details like one of the lamps in the bathroom still had the marking from putting up the lamp. Bathtub shower was leaking, tried to fix it a couple of times but it seems to have a broken seal..
Restaurant: After 3 weeks in Thailand I had my first "food incident", in Layana's 5star restaurant. This after eating food from lots of other restaurants..
The first night we decieded to order the second most expensive course(australian steak). I got so ill that night following our dinner, vomitting all night long. I haven't been this ill from food in a long time. Maybe never.. My girlfriend had the same course and was a bit luckier with only stomachecramps etc..
I did not want to mention this to the restaurant manager, because the evening before I commented that the steak and sauce wasn't that good. It looked like the meat wasn't good red(we ordered medium not rare) with lots of tendons and a bit "chewy". He reacted with "i do not know what I should do" look. This was proven on several occassion that it doesn't seem that he or the rest of the staff can manage to tackle negative critism. When we had positive critiscm, everything was jolly good.
