Perfection
Koyao Island Resort is immaculate and well appointed. It is evident that each villa and all public spaces are frequently cleaned. Intimate in the number of villas but spacious for the grounds. Beachfront swimming should be approached with care as it is rocky in parts. The swimming pool is lovely enough right on the water that I ended up spending more time there, which is odd for me. I usually prefer the ocean. The view from the entire resort is, in a word, stunning.
The menu is varied and decently priced. We rented motorbikes from the resort at 450 baht per day which I would recommend as a great way to see the whole island. There is not much motor traffic so one does not feel intimidated.
The locals are beyond friendly. It is apparent at the resort, but getting out and seeing the island as a whole will only reinforce this. I have been to several Thai islands, and I can say hands down that this is my favorite spot due to the beauty of the scenery, the people, and its general sweet temperament as a "real" place, not a tourist mecca.
