Disappointing stay

My husband and I stayed at the Reinassance in ko samui during our honeymoon. We travelled from north to south in Thailand and we' ve had some great experiences with other luxury and not luxury accommodations but we cannot say the same for this resort. We booked a deluxe room with ocean view because we didn' t want to be surrounded by walls as in a villa room. The deluxe rooms are in a building across the street from the reception ,further away from the beach and the ocean view was almost completely obstructed by trees (we were at the 4th, maybe on the 5th or 6th it was better). This building it' s ten minutes walk from the beach/pool. We like to walk but the path felt boring. The room was clean and we had a jacuzzi tub on our balcony that make our stay more special. The service was good (not great) everyone was nice and welcoming. The transfer from the airport that they offer to you it ' s expensive, we took a minibus from the airport at 350 bath for two and to come back we called a taxi that we paid 500 bath.The HIGHLIGHTS of this resort were the infinity pool (beautiful area), the lap pool, and the BBQ buffet on the beach they organize once a week, we recommend to reserve it because it is worth. The location of the resort, offering a lovely view of lamai beach . The nice welcome at the check- in with mango ice cream and cold towel to refresh. THE AVERAGE things was the breakfast, they offer fresh eggs to make but the pastry and the bread were average. We expected more from a 5 stars Resort, based on our previous experiences. We had a dinner at Banana leaf, Ok food, but expensive.THE POOR: The beach is very small, the sand is not soft (small rocks and broken seashells), and the water too shallow to get into (knee deep). Elsewhere in ko samui the water is beautiful. We ended up using their free transfer (very efficient) to the beautiful Chaweng and Lamai beaches and enjoyed the ocean. Go elsewhere if you like to be in the oceean
