Beautiful location, great service
The hotel grounds are beautiful and very relaxing, and the massage we had at the spa was wonderful. The food at the restaurants is good, but you can get just as good for much cheaper in town, although the presentation is better at the hotel.
The problem I had was that I got food poisoning from the food they served us on one of the excursions. At that point I had eaten all of my previous five meals at the Sarojin so there was no question of the source. I ate the jumbo prawns on the excursion and others in my group did not. I'm sure that was the cause, in fact my wife had one bite and got slightly ill also, but I was extremely sick for the next 36 hours.
The staff didn't seem to believe that their food was to blame and never offered any kind of compensation. When I finally got better and asked for compensation (the excursion was very expensive and I basically lost a couple days of my vacation) all they gave me was a cup of tea(!). I would have been happy if they had comped my portion of the excursion, or upgraded our room, or even just a free meal. But instead, nothing.
I don't think this is 5 star service, and definitely not what I expected after paying the prices they charge.
