Things started falling apart right at check in. While I wasn't bothered by the cold attitude of the lady doing my check in, i was offended during the process of the deposit collection. When she mentioned a 2000 baht deposit, i passed her my credit card without fuss, only for her to insist multiple times that "Cash" and "Thai Baht 2000". I was perplexed and asked why the insistence on cash. She then cut me off and held up my card "your debit card not accepted, credit card only!". I had to politely point out the words Platinum and Credit card on my otherwise low key matte card.
Subsequently, i decided to take the free shuttle to Nana BTS which is a half hourly service. I made sure I was there five minutes earlier for the ride. After waiting close to twenty minutes with another two tourists, i walked up to the concierge and asked if there was indeed a shuttle service. Without giving me any resemblance of a glance, the staff wearing black spectacles shot back "we still waiting for another family! Sit in the car and wait!" Of course, this rifled me and I protested the reasoning behind having to wait for guests who are late for a scheduled service. Luckily for the three of us, another staff saw the commotion and quickly offered to drive us to the station.
If you must stay in the Sukhumvit area, there are many other hotels with better reputation and closer proximity to the BTS stations, and there isn't any reason to stick to one with poorly trained staff.
